Know when services need attention
Monitoring built around useful signals
Plan availability, resource, and application checks that notify the right person and support a clear response.
- Actionable checks
- Alert ownership
- Capacity awareness
Measure what users and operators depend on
A running virtual machine does not prove that a website can complete a login, a database can accept queries, or a certificate is valid. Effective monitoring combines external checks with signals from the operating system and application. Each alert needs an owner and a response that is worth waking up for.
HostGanga can help discuss monitoring needs around hosted services, but check types, metrics, retention, notification channels, and managed response are plan-specific. Treat any unlisted capability as an option to confirm, or connect a monitoring tool your team is prepared to operate.
Layered health checks
Observe network reachability, public endpoints, certificates, system resources, and key application transactions separately.
Alert routing
Send actionable events to people who can respond, with escalation for unresolved customer-impacting issues.
Trend review
Use resource history and application patterns to investigate recurring pressure and plan capacity changes.
Start with a small signal set
Define the user journey that matters most, then add checks for its dependencies. CPU alone is rarely enough. Disk capacity, memory pressure, database health, HTTP response, DNS, and certificate expiry may provide earlier or more relevant warnings.
- External website or API check
- Resource and disk-capacity signals
- Application dependency checks
Make alerts operational
Set thresholds from normal behaviour, add delay where brief spikes are harmless, and include service identity in notifications. Document the first diagnostic steps and test the escalation path. Review noisy alerts regularly; ignored alarms create risk even when data collection is technically working.
Metrics, check intervals, history, notifications, and response services vary by product and plan.
Frequently asked questions
Is ping monitoring enough?
No. It can show that a network endpoint responds while the application is unusable. Add protocol and application-level checks based on the service.
Will HostGanga respond to every alert?
Managed response should not be assumed. Confirm the support or managed scope for your plan and maintain your own on-call process where needed.
How often should checks run?
Balance detection speed, false alarms, workload impact, and tool limits. Critical endpoints may justify more frequent checks than background jobs.
